    This vintage ad from 1947 was illustrated by prodigious commercial artist Pierre-Laurent Brenot for British lingerie company Kestos. Founded in 1925, Kestos’ advertising often revolved around attractive but everyday-looking women with jolly, inviting expressions. This was not unlike the style prominent in American advertising in the 1950s, which was heavily influenced by Hollywood cinema. Brenot was known as the father of the French pin up and had illustrated for designers as influential as Jacques Fath, Christian Dior and Cristobal Balenciaga.
